That does not look like the coolant temperature sensor, although the part has the same type of connector. It looks like the SAP vacuum control solenoid that is located on the underside of the rear of the intake. The engine coolant temperature sensor is located in the rear drivers side of the cylinder hear down near the engine block mating surface.

In the US, Imola is probably the most rare e46 color. That, or that puke-yellow/green one. There's somebody in my town with a Dakar yellow 330, but that's not a factory color for e46. The BMW Genuine rod bearings that FCP has on "clearance", part numbers 11241284853 (red, lower) and 11241284854 (blue, upper). For some reason, on the shopping results page, only the red has 50 over in the description, but if you look at the description of the upper bearing, it states it is 50 over as well. $240 for a set is kind of painful
